“Back In The Days”, ‘23.
Oil painting on linen 40x40 cm.
This artwork participated in a Group Show of BSMT Space - “VIGNETTES”. From Nov. 30th. ‘23- Jan. 14th, ‘24.
It depicts a B-girl (inspiration from dancer Aaliyah Dawkins who performed at Hip Hop Drawing session organized by Good Hand Drawing Go Wiv Flo during “Beyond The Streets, London” exhibition of Roger Gastman Beyond The Streets Art Saatchi Gallery ) on a background which consists of selection of cassettes with Old School Hip Hop and Break Dance music which I grew up with.
The B- girl symbolizes my nostalgia to much earlier times in my life when I used to break dance, inspired from “Freestyler” of Bomfunk MCs as well as Dr Dre 2Pac Eminem Mobb Deep Cypress Hill Public Enemy Eric B & Rakim KRS ONE Wu- Tang Clan Dj Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five Nas and NWA Snoop Dogg. This is not the full list. Just to name some.
The colours and the shapes are inspired from my love of music, abstract rhythms, energy, motion. The connection between them all.
